Woman Sexually Harassed by Boss is Asked to Transfer and Not Given Merited Raise
A middle-aged woman was harassed by her boss, a high-level executive for a Bay Area media arts company. The harassment consisted of hugs (full body-to-body), hand-holding and finally pulling her into his lap. After complaining to management, the company attempted to “fix” the problem by simply transferring the complainant away from the perpetrator. Complainant was also given her lowest annual rate increase in numerous years on the job, without a review.
Winer, McKenna & Burritt immediately contacted the woman’s company, stopped the transfer, and were able to encourage the company to expedite a mediation hearing where a settlement was negotiated.
